Helpful Hints
1. Manage Your Time Aggressively
One of the very biggest factors in successfully completing your
Spy-Ops training is to proactively manage your time commitment to completing the
programs. With distance learning it can be easy to let things slide. As a student,
you need to set aside time to complete the training and schedule your course work.
Once you reserve a time of day for studying, stay committed to that time and honor
it like a meeting that can’t be rescheduled.
2. Balance Your Personal Obligations
Convenience is the number one reason individuals use distance
learning programs to advance their careers. Balancing your career, family responsibilities
and personal life with continuing education is a difficult task. Our self-paced
distance learning programs provide the ability to study around your schedule.
3. Create Your Ideal Study Environment.
Scheduling your study time in a place where you will be able
to focus. A proper study environment is one where you are relaxed and can concentrate
on the materials without being distracted. Find a well-lit place that is at least
a shut door away from people. Libraries and some coffee shops can be ideal places,
especially since many of them now offer reasonable wi-fi access.
4. Recognition
Establish measurement goals and reward yourself when you achieve
one. Establish your goals – I will complete one training brief per week until I
finish my program. When you complete a brief or program, make sure you copy the
certificate, show it to your friends and give a copy to your employer.
5. Play to Your Mind’s Strengths
Each of us has a natural brand of intelligence, and while it’s
important to create a study environment that plays to your particular strengths,
there are also universal ways in which the human mind learns, and knowing these
can be an asset for you. The scientific data strongly suggest that learning is enhanced
by review and repeating the materials or skill activities within a ninety minute
window. You should repeat a piece of new information in 90 minutes if you want to
store it in long-term memory.
